Every day is different in the challenging and rewarding world of a housing services officer, as Chanelle explains:

“Being a Housing Services Officer most definitely challenges me and has helped me to grow, both personally and professionally. No two days are the same.

“I’m based at our Canalside office in Hackney, East London, but I also work from an office in Crossharbour, which is close to Canary Wharf.  The work I do is varied and very customer focussed. For example, in a typical week I might have to carry out estate inspections and tenancy audits, manage anti-social behaviour, carry out estate inspection and follow up on fire risk assessment tasks. I assist customers with things such as repairs, tenancy sustainment, money advice and management transfers, and sometimes I attend court.

“One of the most challenging parts of my role is not being able to help a customer when something is out of your control, but I go home feeling proud that, at some point during my day, I made a difference to someone, whether it be something as small as a call back. Knowing that the customer appreciated my help gives me job satisfaction.

“One thing I like about working here is that there are opportunities to progress your career, whether that’s moving up or into another team where you can gain further experience and skills.”
