Mario has worked at Metropolitan for over four years. He describes how he has helped people get on the property ladder, including himself!
“I began in the Home Ownership division. I was grateful to have been given this opportunity with no prior experience in social housing. I learned that it is not always about what you know, but having a positive mind-set and the willingness to learn.
“In my first role I gained valuable experience by managing a broad range of cases from start to finish including buying additional shares (staircasing), selling shares and lease extensions, to name a few. After helping hundreds of leaseholders in managing property transactions, I used the legal knowledge I gained to get on the property ladder myself at a young age.
“I now work in the Development Delivery Team as the first line of support for eight Contracts Managers, two Regional Managers and The Head of Delivery. We are responsible for delivering new build schemes including shared ownership, affordable rent and private sales. I have learned what it takes to deliver successful projects under tight deadlines. As I coordinate and minute meetings across several locations, I have the pleasure of seeing the developments in person. Through the audits and reports I produce for management, I now know how to articulate solutions and influence business decisions.
“I enjoy my job but the best part of working at Metropolitan is the people. I love the diversity here and the opportunities people create for personal development. I am part of the MetFit group where we meet every week to exercise, including running and boxing. I have also volunteered as an Engagement Ambassador where I have contributed to successful projects.”
