Metropolitan appoints Geeta Nanda OBE as new Chief Executive

Geeta Nanda OBE has been appointed as the new Chief Executive at Metropolitan. Geeta is currently Chief Executive of Thames Valley Housing, and will join Metropolitan in October 2017, succeeding Brian Johnson.

“Brian Johnson has done an excellent job over the past four years in leading Metropolitan and he is leaving the organisation in a strong position.”

Brian Johnson, current Chief Executive of Metropolitan, said:
“I have enjoyed my time at Metropolitan tremendously, and I am very proud of what the team has achieved together.
“Having accomplished what I set out to do – to get the organisation onto a sound and successful footing – I have decided that it’s the right time for me to hand over responsibility, and I am very pleased that Geeta has agreed to join us.”

Brian Johnson will continue as Chief Executive until July 2017, at which point interim arrangements will be put in place until Geeta joins Metropolitan in October.
Geeta Nanda OBE joined Thames Valley Housing as Chief Executive in 2008, after completing four years as Group Operations Director of Notting Hill Housing Trust. Over nearly 30 years, Geeta has worked in a variety of leadership roles in housing associations, which have provided her with significant experience and a thorough understanding of the sector.
During her career, Geeta has maintained a track record of improving profitability, implementing strategy, establishing innovative joint ventures and partnerships, and raising organisations’ levels of internal engagement and external reputation. In her most recent role at Thames Valley Housing, Geeta has overseen a top quartile performance in customer service, and the establishment of a highly successful market rent subsidiary.
Geeta is a Non-Executive Director of McCarthy & Stone, a FTSE 250 retirement housebuilder, and has served on the Boards of two housing organisations, as well as national and local charities. She is also an Ambassador for charity World Child Cancer. In 2013, she was awarded an OBE for achievements in social housing.
