Website accessibility

This site has been constructed to meet recommendations made by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to achieve a Double-A accessibility rating. The site has been built using code compliant with W3C standards for XHTML and CSS.

We provide translation services for all pages on our site using Google Translate.

You can change the language at any time using the selection tool in the navigation menu at the top of this page.

Non-accessible content on our website


Google Maps

Some of our pages contain embedded Google Maps that show the location of buildings. People using a screen reader can’t navigate the map or access the information in it. This is an issue with Google Maps and not within our control.

We have content elsewhere on these pages that describes the location of our buildings.


YouTube

Some of our pages contain embedded YouTube videos. Some people using mobile screen readers can’t use the YouTube slider that rewinds and fast-forwards the video. This is an issue with the YouTube video player and not within our control.

We have content elsewhere on the page that conveys the same information as the video. We aim to publish transcriptions for all videos on the website by April 2024.


Google Translate

The Google Translate bar on all of our pages is not accessible to people using screen readers or voice activation software. This is an issue with Google Translate and not within our control.

We will continue to look for a more accessible translation option.

Translation services

We provide translation services for individuals who do not speak or read English, are blind or have a visual impairment, and are deaf or have a hearing impairment.

We provide:

  • Interpretation, including British Sign Language.
  • Language translations.
  • Braille, large print, British Sign Language and electronic versions including email.

The easiest way to ask for an interpreter or translation service is online using our webform.
