Here you’ll find the latest news about the Olympics and how this may affect Metropolitan customers.
26 June 2012
This summer, London will be host to the Olympic Games from 27 July until 12 August and the Paralympics from 29 August until 9 September. During this time, it is anticipated that there may be some affects for people living and working in London including you, our Metropolitan customers.
Metropolitan have been working hard to minimise the impact that the Olympic Games will have on the service we deliver to our customers.
In the last six months, we have been working with our contractors to bring forwards routine gas servicing appointments and other planned repairs for residents living close to Olympic event sites or major travel routes.
If you need to report an emergency or high priority repair during the Olympics, please call our Customer Service Centre (based in Nottingham) on 020 3535 3535 or report your repair online. An out of hours service is available between 5pm – 8am (Monday – Friday) and over the weekend. Any emergency repairs reported during this time will be prioritised and dealt with within normal timescales.
Our contractor, Mears have been working with us to ensure that we can continue to meet the needs of our residents during any disruption that might result as part of the Olympic Games. This includes:
- Temporary stockpiling of key components, with plans in place to replenish stocks should they diminish during August and September
- A team dedicated to reprioritising support needed by customers to ensure people with the highest need get seen to first
- Creation of a dedicated Olympic response team uniform
Potential traffic disruptions may affect staff getting to and from our offices or appointments with customers. If this should happen, our staff will do their best to communicate any delay to customers as promptly as possible.
There may also be localised disruptions that are beyond Metropolitan’s control, such as security cordons or telephone network issues due to increased mobile usage, but in these circumstances, we will communicate with residents and to make the process as simple as possible.
