Brixton residents get into judo 15

29/05/2012

In partnership with the British Judo Association (BJA), Metropolitan is running weekly judo sessions at Moorlands Community Centre. Glen Spiers, a qualified instructor, is teaching the basic techniques.

The Friday afternoon sessions are split into two age groups; five to eight year olds and nine years and above. Attendance for both sessions has been rising steadily with an average of 19 young people now taking part.

Uniforms and equipment have been provided free of charge. During the programme, the participants have not only learnt judo skills but have also improved confidence, agility, balance, core strength, social skills and discipline in a structured, fun and safe environment.
